![]() With its lack of options and lack of focus, it’s easy to see why Doug Perry of ign.com rated the game a 1 out of 10. Bashing various familiar characters in repetitive fashion only holds even a diehard Simpsons fan's attention briefly. Imagine if Brad Maddox was allowed to do that in his matches.Ī poor man's WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game, this game feels tossed together without much thought. In between these object strikes, the "wrestlers" leap higher than Kofi Kingston straight into the air.Ī pin occurs with the opponent on his stomach whille the attacker counts to three for himself. The characters smash each other with bombs, rakes or beer mugs. ![]() Whether gamers play as Barney Gumble or Krusty the Clown, they won't be doing a single wrestling move. The Simpsons Wrestling is essentially a simplistic, cartoony fighting game set in an oversized wrestling ring. It's clear from the opening bell that the creators knew plenty about Homer, Bart and friends and very little about pro wrestling. Yeah, a botched DDT could easily break someones neck or give them a concussion, very dangerous unless used by a trained professional. As popular as wrestling was in 2001 and as popular as The Simpsons has been maybe it was inevitable for those two dissimilar worlds to come together. Of course, but everyone here was naming the DDT. Wouldn't that apply to a lot of other moves as well, not just a DDT? I mean look when bryan does a suplex then look at the miz do a suplex which looks better? if your not a fanboy bryan is the obvious answer. I think the problem has to do with the fact that most wrestlers in WWE were trained in FCW which just shows the basics, while alot of the old school wrestlers trained in different areas with their own style so they forced to make their own unique ways or else they would look like everybody elese. The best stuff is usually from wrestlers who can add their own flavor to the move. You always hear the commentators say, "Textbook suplex", but you don't always want "textbook". When Rikidozan put someone in the side headlock, it looked like he was going to tear their head right off their shoulders. The best wrestlers can make the simplest, most old fashioned moves look amazing. ![]() Like you said, in the case of a DDT, you could seriously injure or kill someone if you botched it. Ha, that is true about Big Show's knockout punch! Still though, I think most fans just assume that because a superkick appears to be a simple kick to the face, it must be really easy to do properly, and that's just not true. ![]() If the DDT is used incorrectly, you could seriously injure or even kill someone. I agree, the DDT is much harder to do correctly than the people here give credit. Well I'm not a trained wrestler, but I do know it is easiest to do Big Show's knockout punch of all WWE's finishers lol. Think about how some wrestlers incorporate that loud slapping sound when they strike (think Chris Hero's elbow), your opponent selling the move, and all of the other ring psychology that comes with it. To perform a move like that and perform it well is not so simple. A move like a DDT or a shining wizard may look fairly simple, but there's actually quite a bit going on there. I think it's safe to say not many people here are actual trained professional wrestlers. I don't think it's really fair for most of us to say whether or not a finisher is hard to perform. ![]()
